Port your number to CallForges

Porting moves a number you already have with another provider into your CallForges workspace, so your customers keep calling the number they know. US local numbers go through a step-by-step wizard. Other countries and US toll-free numbers are ported on request by our porting team.

Before you start

  • Users with the Owner or Admin role can port numbers. Other users can see the requests on the Porting tab.
  • You can port numbers during your free trial.
  • If porting reads Not available on your workspace, contact support.
  • Porting a US number costs $10. It is charged only after your port date is confirmed. Fees for other countries vary by carrier. See pricing.
  • Have these ready: a recent invoice from your current provider, your carrier and address details, and the numbers with their port-out PINs, if your provider uses them.
  • Important: don't cancel your current service until your number is fully ported. Doing so may cause delays or failure in the porting process.

Port US local numbers

Open Phone Numbers and click Port number. The steps are listed on the left. Save and next saves each step to a draft, so you can leave and finish later.

  1. Number details: pick the Country and the Number type. Read Porting information & charges and click Next.
  2. Upload documents: pick your Current service provider and upload your most recent invoice from them, as a PDF, JPEG or PNG.
  3. Enter numbers: click Enter numbers manually and type each number, with its Port-out PIN (optional). Or upload a CSV file; click Download sample CSV to see the format. Each number is checked as you enter it, and any problem shows on its row.
  4. Application details: these details must match your invoice exactly. Fill in the Account type (Business or Individual), the name on the account, the Current provider account number, the Billing telephone number (optional), the Authorized representative, the Service address, and optionally a Preferred port date and notification e-mails.
  5. Confirm details: check each step, tick I’m authorized to move these numbers and the details match my carrier account. and click Submit request.

The authorized representative receives an e-mail with the authorization to sign. It comes from our carrier partner, so ask them to look out for it. The port can't go ahead until it is signed.

Port other numbers on request

For any other country, or a US toll-free number, the Number details step says porting is available on request. A US number the check says must be moved by hand links to the same form.

  1. Click Submit request to open Request a port.
  2. Check the Country and Number type, and list the Numbers to port, one per line.
  3. Check the Contact email, add notes if you like, and attach an invoice, a signed authorization or a customer service record if you have them.
  4. Click Submit request. Our porting team will reach out to move these numbers for you.

Track your request

Open Phone Numbers and the Porting tab. Click Continue on a draft to pick up where you left off, or View to open a request. The request page shows each step: Submitted, Waiting for signature, In progress, Port date set and Completed, with a row for each number.

  • Action required: your current provider rejected a number, and the request page shows why. The other numbers carry on. To try that number again with corrected details, choose Duplicate in the row's menu. A failed request shows Duplicate to retry instead. A copy keeps your details but not the invoice, the PINs or the account number, so you add those again.
  • Cancel request: you can cancel while the request is open, but not shortly before a confirmed port date. A fee already charged for a number with a port date is kept.
  • Delete draft removes a draft you no longer need.

After the port

  • The numbers land in your name. Change their owner and teams on each number afterwards.
  • A ported number starts on Direct line, the System default, like a bought number. See Build a call workflow.
  • From then on it is billed like any other number on your workspace. See pricing.
  • A ported number is your own number. Deleting it releases it for good.
